After a fortnight in the relative luxury of the farm shed mezzanine, our ducks are put out onto pasture for the remainder of their lives. These ducks spent the majority of their life down by the stream in the valley over a 14 week period.
Fed on an entirely organic blend of barley, peas, & wheat to supplement their daily intake of cover crops, forage and stubble crops, they not only lived a life few other ducks are able to live, they have done untold good to our growing areas and pasture over their time.
It is no surprise that upon processing them this week, we were faced with some of the healthiest birds we have had the privilege to work with. A significant coverage of golden fat from the daily forage, with strong muscles and bones from a life spent outdoors. A beautiful duck for the colder season.
We will be breaking them down as follows in order to maximise the birds and do them full justice.
