The butt of our continental friends' jokes no more, British wine continues to go through a resurgence as a new generation of winemakers bring organic and biodynamic practices to our shores.

We have loved pouring the work of our friends alongside our food, ever more during the festive season.

Our selection is as follows, made up of the efforts of three of our friends amongst this progressive new generation, with a little added extra fizz. It is New Years after all.

2020 Field Notes 1, Offbeat Wines, Essex
Daniel & Nicola Ham's Offbeat Wines (themselves based in Wiltshire) are making some of the most interesting and, importantly, delicious wines in this country. Field Notes is no exception, taking Pinot Blanc and Noir from the Crouch Valley in Essex to create this wonderfully 'crunchy', light red.

2019 Botley's Col Fondo, Domaine Hugo, Salisbury
Daniel Ham has been very busy of late, with his latest project working alongside Hugo Stewart to bring the latter's extensive Languedoc experience back to Wiltshire. This is a beautiful, fresh semi-sparkling blend of the Champagne heavy hitters.

2020 Artefact, Castlewood Vineyard, Devon
Rob and the Corbett family run this beautiful vineyard in Axeminster, making both some classic British sparkling and expectation-defying still wines. This is one of the latter. 100% Bacchus aged in clay Amphorae, full of green acidity, but balanced by a lovely richness. Wonderful.
