Winter Hours & A Bottle Fed Piglet
Good evening from our corner of Cornwall,
We wanted to start with a big thank you to everyone who ordered a September box from us. This week Tom & Ivo have been butchering, making, jarring, labelling and packing all the boxes, which went out yesterday. It is no mean feat, and we really do appreciate all of those who have supported us over the years and continue to buy produce from the Farm.
It really feels now as if Autumn is upon us - the squash (lots of squash!) are picked and will now cure up in the shed for the coming month or so before finding their way onto the menu, apples are being gathered ready for next week's juicing and bottling day, and the crisp mornings are a very welcome change from the sun baked summer.
We recently had a tricky week on the Farm, and ended up losing one of our much beloved old sows, Kim, due to complications during the birth of her piglets. Since then we have been bottle rearing her single remaining piglet. Having spent her first few days at Ryan's piglet hotel, she is now residing up in the warmth of the brooder with our new chicks - with frequent visits up to our flat, politely putting up with the kids playing vets on her. A silver lining to a hard situation, farming continues to teach us to take the rough with the smooth and roll with it.
Winter Hours
We must include a brief reminder of our opening hours through to the end of the year. Enquiries are coming in for the Christmas period and we have added a couple of extra Festive Lunches in and around Christmas with dates falling kindly. We have also been taking private lunch bookings for work Christmas parties this Autumn - they are always great fun, pop us an email to enquire.
Our Bar Menu remains in action and is now being enjoyed in the restaurant space through the day and the courtyard when the weather allows. Serving all the favourites - Pork scratchings, chilli smoked nuts, Neals Yard cheeses and crackers with quince membrillo, and plates of cured ham to name a few, all to be washed down with a glass of something cold.

If you fancy a peaceful getaway before the festive build up begins, we have rooms available this Autumn, with special note to the week 15 - 19 Oct where there are plenty of rooms available, and we have an Autumn Market on the Saturday which should be good fun.
